» Federal Government to build national broadband network (news.com.au)
Kevin Rudd announced this morning that the Government will create it’s own company to build a national broadband network since none of the private sector proposals were up to scratch. The project will start mid 2009 and take 8 years to complete. It will create tens of thousands of jobs and bring a fibre-optic network, providing speeds of up to 100 megabits per second, to homes and businesses covering 90 percent of Australians.
